Three or More Tuesday-Living Room triplets

This week I decided that I would again participate in Three or More Tuesday hosted by Tam at The Gypsy's Corner. I love Tam's blog, she takes the most beautiful photos & she has a special talent for setting up vignettes. One day I was in my living room (I'm actually in there more than one day, but I'm referring to just one particular day) & noticed all the items that I have displayed in triplet. So the light bulb went on (click) & I thought I would share them with you today.

I've had these 3 fleur de lis finials for quite a number of years. I love the rusty finish they have. I don't even remember when I got them. They sit on a sofa table by my front window.

These blocks were made by my sister in law Jeannette (or maybe it was my nieces). They were my Christmas gift from them last Christmas. I love these! They sit on my sofa table by the front window as well.

I love using old books to add height to a display. Another sofa table display.

Here is a close up of the books used in this display. They all came from the thrift store. I paid 35 cents a piece (it was 1/2 off books day). The books were purchased for their color mostly. But I also liked the titles.

On the buffet in my living room is our (I mean hubby's) Lenox bowl collection. I did a separate Three or More Tuesday post about them. If you are interested, you can read it here.

Three boring candles. I love this candle holder as it reminds me of an old garden gate (that's the real reason for the photo).

Three hat boxes that I use for storage. These came from TJ Maxx last year. I store DVD's & music CD's in them. Did you notice our teal blue carpet? I hate it!!!!! Our entire house is carpeted in this color. It is hard to decorate with this color. I don't mind it in my living room as I have a lot of brown in there, but I hate it in the rest of my house. Some day it will be gone!!!! Not sure which will be gone first, the carpet, or me.

And finally 3 metal suitcases. These sit on the bottom of my sofa table by the front window. I purchased them on clearance from Tender Heart Treasures website a few years ago. They hold some of my ebay supplies. The smallest one holds my vintage image CD's. The middle one stores my packing tape guns & tape. The largest one stores my photo paper, card stock & vintage images that I have printed out.

As you can see, triplets run in my family. You definitely don't want to drink the water if you come to my house. lol.

What's On Your Wall Wednesday-Living Room

This week I am going to take you on a little tour of my living room walls. I am lucky to have both a living room & a family room. The living room is where we have my hubby's Mission style furniture that he had before we got married. I got to decorate the walls.

This is the south wall in our Living room as well as the biggest wall to decorate. Here is the left half of the wall.

And the right hand side of the wall. The buffet & mirror were my hubby's before we got married. The Lenox bowls on the buffet are hubby's as well. I did a post about them last week. You can find it here (if interested). The print of the ships falling off the edge of the world is my hubby's favorite. We still need to frame it. Right now it sits on an easel. The clock is on the west wall & to the right of that is a window (not shown) and then our huge entertainment center.
This framed print belonged to my hubby. It is really old. I don't know the history of it. I'm sure hubby has told me, but I seem to have forgotten. It sits above our pump organ. I'll have to do a post about the organ someday. It is so hard to get a good photo of pictures with glass. I tried to take it at an angle, but still got reflection.

This mirror wasn't originally a mirror. In it's former life it was a memo board that I purchased from Marshall's. I knew all along that I wanted to make it a mirror. I had square mirror tiles I had picked up for a thrift store years earlier that I knew I could use in this. All I had to do was remove the tin they had in the frame. The mirror was slightly too big, but hubby knows how to cut glass and mirror is nothing but glass, so no problem. Looks like I need to clean my mirror. I love the ornateness of this frame.
This tin sign came from Joann's a couple of years ago. I love the saying.
The clock was a Christmas gift from hubby a few years back. He got it at Walmart. I wanted a big clock for my wall.
This monogram letter came from Kirkland's, at least I think it did. I remember it was $5.00 on clearance. It is made of metal. And did I tell you that I was one of the winners of Barb of Grits and Glamour's fabulous moss monograms? Well I was, I mean, I am. I can't wait till I receive mine. I bought this mirror off of ebay a few years back. I loved it because it is all "frenchy" and we know I love frenchy.

I forgot to take a photo of the garden gate candle holder in this grouping. I got it on clearance from Tender Heart Treasures a few years back.


Here is a close up of the mirror. All of hubby's mission style furniture came from the JC Penney furniture outlet about 6 or so years ago. He got fantastic deals on everything. Some of the prices made him feel like he was stealing. He had to repair some of the furniture, but he is good at doing that.

The opening to our living room is on the east side. There is a small wall that is next to the organ. This picture hangs there. The photos were taken by us on our trip to Europe in 2003. This photo didn't turn out very good. The top photo is of the Eiffel Tower in Paris. The 2nd photo is the stone archway that sits next to the Colosseum in Rome. The 3rd photo is of Big Ben in London and the last photo is of Venice. If you have never been to Europe you must go. It is fabulous!!! I want to go back someday. It's hard to wrap your head around how old everything is there.
This is also the east wall but on the other side of the entryway to our living room. This is the wall where our couch is. The candle sconces came from ABC Distributing catalog. I love fleur de lis!! Why, because they are frenchy!!! The London & Paris prints came from Walmart.
I loved these prints as they reminded me of our trip to Europe. And I loved the vintage suitcases.
The colors in these 2 prints are fairly muted. Makes them look old & vintage. I can't remember what I paid for them but I'm sure it was less than $20.00 a piece as I'm sure I wouldn't have bought them if they were anymore than that.
The north wall in my living room has a big window in the middle with 2 small areas on either side for hanging things. This is the right side of the window. The mirror came from Bombay years ago. I think it was the first thing I bought from Bombay. The lamp & table were hubby's. The lamp came from Bombay too. It is one of my favorite lamps.
This print was given to me by my sister a couple of Christmas's ago. I just love the mat with all the pictures of Christ.
This is the area on the north wall to the left of the window. You can tell I don't have any drapes on my windows, just the icky blinds. I have drapes, just haven't put them up. I just got hubby to put up the drapes in our bedroom & we have lived in our house for 4 years. I've told you before, I am the procrastination queen. The leaf candle holder came from Target years ago.

And here is the beast that takes up most of our west wall. I've only shown you half of it. The desk area was too much of a mess to share with you today. This part was messy enough. Hubby bought this in sections from the JC Penney furniture outlet. If I had to guess, this beast is probably 10-12 feet wide. It houses our TV, our computer, stereo equipment (at least that is hidden away) as well as all my hubby's knick knacks. Yes, most of the items you see displayed are his.
Well that is what is on my wall in my Living Room. Maybe someday I'll show you photos of the entire room. But I will have to get hubby to clean up his desk area first. As you can probably tell, hubby & I like to collect stuff. There isn't a wall in my house that doesn't have lots of stuff on it or furniture up next to it. I hope I never have to move again. We have too much stuff. But we love our stuff. We need an intervention. Just kidding!!!

Three or More Tuesday-Lenox Bowls

My hubby loves Lenox china. I think my hubby would have every piece of Lenox china made if given the chance & a wad of cash. And his favorite 3 Lenox pieces are the three bowls that sit on the buffet in our living room dining area. I love these Lenox pieces as well, but I'm not quite the Lenox fan that hubby is.

Here is where the bowls sit in their everyday life.

The bowl on the left is called The Lenox Nativity Bowl. It depicts the nativity (would you have ever guessed?). There are different scenes all around it.

The bowl in the middle doesn't have a name on the bottom. Mike calls it the Four Seasons Bowl. It depicts a tree in all four seasons. This is my favorite bowl.

The last bowl (on the right) is called the Centennial Bowl. This is my hubby's favorite. It has different flowers all the way around. Sorry but I only took this one photo.

All the bowls were purchased on ebay. Hubby didn't want me telling you this. He is afraid that all of you will log onto ebay & buy up all the Lenox bowls and there won't be any left over for him. lol.

2nd Time Around Tuesday-Grandma's Rocker

This is my first week participating in 2nd Time Around Tuesday hosted by Diane at A Picture is Worth a 1,000 Words. If you love 2nd hand treasures like me, not that I'm a 2nd hand treasure, I just love them, then you too will love this weekly meme.

For years my Mom had this rocking chair in her house. It had originally been in my Grandma's house and when she died, my Mom took it home to her house. All these years I've loved this chair & have told my Mom that I wanted the chair. I figured that someday when my mom was gone that it would be my turn to love & take care of this chair.

But luckily for me, I didn't have to wait. A couple of years ago my Mom gave me the chair for Mother's Day. It was the best Mother's Day gift I ever received.


The chair sits in our living room (with our ugly teal carpet). This isn't your typical rocking chair. This one has springs that it rocks on. The one thing about this rocker is that you have to be real careful how you sit in it. If you sit back too far, you almost get dumped out of it backwards. So you have to balance yourself just so to sit in it. But I have learned how to sit in it without tipping it back too far.
When my Grandson comes over (which is not very often), I love to rock him in this rocking chair. And even when I don't have my Grandson. I love to sit & rock in this chair. This is something so soothing & comforting about a rocking chair. Especially one that has memories attached to it & is as old as this one.
I wish I knew more about my rocking chair. I called my Mom this morning to see if she knew anything about it. She said no. All she knew is that it belonged to her Mom, my Grandma. She wasn't sure if it had belonged to anyone else in the family or not.

So if anyone else in my family knows anything more about the history of this rocking chair, let me know.

All I know is that I feel loved while rocking in this chair. I love it and will treasure it always.

Black & White Spring Tablescape

This week I did a simple tablescape for spring. Now this is not your typical spring tablescape as I have used black & white dishes (well it's really cream, but black & white sounds better than black & cream). But with a touch of green & some birdies, it says "Spring" to me.
I love participating in this meme as it gives me a reason to decorate my table differently each week. My family just rolls their eyes though when I change it up. Since they are all "men", they just don't understand. They are happy to just eat off of paper plates. But I know you woman understand the need to tablescape. Aren't I right?
The black & white damask plates came from Marshall's a couple of months ago. I only bought the salad plates (I'm on a tight budget and that was all I could justify). The cream dinner plates came from Ross on clearance for $1.99 each. They only had the dinner plates. The placemats also came from Ross. I thought they would match my new salad plates just right.
For my centerpiece I used my iron candelabra. I bought this at a trade show in Vegas about 5 years ago. A friend of mine has a store & invited me to go with her to a trade show. I purchased a bunch of iron pieces from a woman on the last day. She didn't want to ship them back home, so I got the iron pieces for near next to nothing. I love getting deals. I put it on top of one of my latest thrift store finds, a vintage book about gardens. Perfect book for spring. A small berry wreath winds it way around the bottom of the candelabra. The finishing touch are my 2 cement birdies.
Here is a close up of one of the birdies. I purchased 4 of these birds last year from a catalog called ABC Distributing. I think they were $4.95 a pair. I've used them inside & out. I love them. I think I like them more than my Target birdies Harold & Maude (but don't tell them).
Here's a closeup of the book. It is called America's Garden Book. I paid $3.00 for this. More than I wanted to pay, but I loved the title & the color of the book, so I splurged.

I've again used my Libby goblets from Walmart. I only have a couple of sets of goblets, so you will see them quite often in my tablescapes. Since we don't drink wine, I only use goblets for water, or maybe Pepsi (the favorite drink of my household). For holidays we are known to have Martinelli's sparkling cider. But that is only when we want to get wild. lol.
Here is a closeup of the plates. The damask salad plates are made by Royal Stafford in England. I've seen quite a few of your tablescapes using these plates. So it is your fault I had to go out & buy them. At least that is the excuse I'm giving my hubby. I saw them each time I went to Marshall's & always talked myself out of them. Then one day I could not stand leaving them there anymore, they were calling my name, I had to buy them. I have no will power. That is why I am a dishaholic.
I tucked a green napkin in between the salad plate & the dinner plate. The napkins I got on clearance from Walmart a few months back. I love the green with the black & white .
Here are my Ross dinner plates. They are made by Coventry in China. I love the design around the edge. I wish I could have found other pieces to this. I was only able to pick up 4 dinner plates. The silverware is my unknown make clearance set from Marshall's. I really love this set. It is quite heavy.
The berry candle ring came from Michael's last year. I think they had them again this year though. I'm sure I got it on clearance or for at least 40% off. I try not to buy anything from Michael's unless I am getting it on sale.
