First on my mind: I won a prize!!!!! Today Mike & I went to a water damage restoration class put on by the local Servpro here in Moreno Valley. It was held at the Acapulco restaurant. For attending we got 2 hours of continuing education credit for our insurance license and to top it off, we even got free lunch (very yummy Mexican food). Can't beat that now can you? Or yes you can beat that. Throughout the class they had drawings for various things like $5 Starbucks gift card or gift card for a large drink at Jamba Juice & some lotion from Bath & Body Works. But the biggest prize they gave away was for a $50.00 gift card to the Olive Garden. The teacher gave us the following riddle: Which day of the year is the only day that gives a command? I answered March 4th, get it, March Forth! So I won. Hip, hip, hurray!!! Can't wait to use my gift card.
Secondly, Spring has arrived in Southern California. Well at least for a few days. Usually we don't get much spring weather here. It is either cold or hot. But the weather was perfect for a few days. This is a photo of some of the flowers blooming on our back hill. They've actually been blooming for a week or two, so they are on their way to dying. Who ever owned the house before us planted the bulbs & every February/March they bloom. I really like the yellow daffodils the best, but there are only a couple of those. Each year the bulbs must multiply as we get more & more flowers each year. I think we are suppose to dig them up & separate them and then replant them. I'll have to check into that. Do any of you know? I don't know much about bulb flowers or growing things in general, except for how to kill plants. So any help you could give me would be great.
It is also the time of year that the ducks stop off at our pool for their annual vacation on the way back north. Each spring & fall we get 2 ducks that stop off at our pool for a few days to relax and enjoy the water.
Thirdly, I found a couple of new thrift stores. One is close to my office. It just opened up this past week. I also found a thrift store in Sun City close to my house. These 2 stores are my kind of thrift stores, cheap. I see from reading other blogs that they find really neat stuff at their local thrift stores for really cheap. The only thrift stores I had found close to me is Goodwill or Salvation Army & both have pretty high prices. You'd think they were a regular antique store. But these 2 new thrift stores have items for less than a buck. You never find anything less than a dollar at GW or Salvation Army.
Here is a look at the items I not only found at the new thrift stores, but also at the Goodwill.
The larger basket & the bunny came from the thrift store closest to my house. The bunny was 50 cents and the basket was $1.00. The glass terrarium and the small silver basket came from Goodwill. I paid $3.00 for the terrarium and $1.00 for the basket. The rest of the items came from the new thrift store by work. I paid 75 cents each for the 3 matching larger frames. The smaller frame was a quarter. The glass egg cup was 50 cents and the goblet was 50 cents (I think). I was happy with my finds this week. I'll show you later what I'm doing with the 3 larger frames.
For now, I am using the terrarium in my spring decor. See the cute little bird nest complete with birdy & eggs? Nothing says spring like birds, nests and eggs. Now I need to find a small white square plate to put underneath it.
I put the bunny in the basket & put it on my scale. Isn't the bunny so cute? I'm thinking I need to put some grass in the basket so that the bunny sits up higher & you could then see his cute face. What do you think? I did get Mike to straighten out the basket handle some.
Fourthly (is there such a word as fourthly? I don't think so, but you get the gist), I finally was able to go to the dentist on Monday as my insurance finally kicked in. I ended up having a root canal & I have to get a crown. The root canal wasn't as bad as I remember (I had quite a few when I was a kid & crashed my bike & broke my 3 front teeth). The cost of a root canal & crown is causing me more pain than the root canal. I also need 3 crowns replaced that I just had done 5 years ago. I am not a happy camper. I may have to sue my old dentist, or bring a claim with my old insurance company. I hate conflict. But I don't want to have to pay for new crowns when the old dentist didn't put them in right. Can you see why I hate dentists?
And lastly, I forgot to put Danica's response to the fun questionnaire. She answered the questions on 2/25. I guess better late than never for me posting her responses.

Congrats on winning your gift card!! I love winning things, but I probably would never have figured out that riddle. Good job!! Oh & I'm glad you found some good cheap thrift stores near you. I hate it when thrift stores get greedy & charge a lot for second hand stuff. Just doesn't seem right!!
It sounds like you are on the up and up!!! Glad that you found new thrift stores, that can make any gray sky turn blue!!! Congrats on the gift card, I think I will use that March 4th question in a quiz sometime!!
