It never rains in California

Who says it never rains in California? I think it was the Mamas and the Papas. And for the past few years, they have been mostly right. But not yesterday. We finally got rain!!!

Did you hear the angels singing their hallelujah chorus? It was like manna falling from the sky. And since God seemed to be smiling down upon us he threw in some lightning & thunder for entertainment as well.

This lightning photo isn't the best. It's a snapshot off some video I took.

And speaking of video, here is one to prove that it actually did rain. I knew you would want proof.

This video was taken while at work in Moreno Valley, CA. The three of us (Brandon, Lynne the woman we work with & I) stood right outside our door in the vestibule (I guess that is what you would call it) to watch the rain. But we still got wet.

I took a bunch of videos trying to get lightning shots, which I finally was able to do. But the one with the lightning was over 3 minutes long & only one lightning bolt showed up. I didn't want to bore you all, so I picked the shortest ones that just show it raining. Only in southern California do we take videos of a rain storm.

It rained for a good 40 minutes or so. It rained enough that some of the orange construction cones (or sticks) went floating on down the road during the storm. It was pretty funny.

The lightning & thunder wasn't the greatest, but it was better than nothing. You have to remember, we don't get much here in SoCal. So I'm sure compared to the rest of the country, our thunderstorm was quite lame. I know that for a fact as I have experienced thunder storms in Utah & Texas. Ours was a light shower in comparison.

The most important fact is that we got heavenly rain. Too bad it didn't rain at our house 15 miles away. And too bad it didn't stay cool for very long. It was over 100 degrees when I got home after work.

Maybe we'll be lucky & get some more rain today. Cross your fingers!!!

If only we could share weather. We generally get plenty of rain... and thunderstorms!?!? I would gladly give you at least half. But, then Florida wouldn't be the lightening capital of the US, and where's the fun in that?
