Today's Thrifty Treasures

It's a new week & time for a new weekly party. This one is called Today's Thrifty Treasures hosted by Rhoda at Southern Hospitality. Rhoda has a fabulous blog. Be sure to visit her by clicking here and find the list of this weeks participants.

Thirteen years ago is when I first met my husband. Before meeting him I think I had been in a thrift store maybe 2 times. I hated thrift stores. But meeting him changed all that. Mike loved thrift stores, so if I was going to love Mike, I had to learn to love thrift stores as well. So that is when my love of thrift stores officially began.

These are the fabulous finds from my local thrift stores from a week or so ago.

I found this fabulous french couple at my local Goodwill (GW to avid thrift store junkies). I paid $4.00 for this. This is about a foot tall.
My hubby hates it. He thinks it is ugly. But I love it. I'm thinking I might make a lamp out of this. But for now, I will leave it as is.

Then I found this photo holder for $1.00. It came from GW as well. I am going to use it for holding reproduction vintage post cards or prints.

I love buying vintage or vintage looking frames. I will paint these white, distress them & then put in a reproduction vintage print. I will then probably list them on ebay. I need to start selling on ebay again. Both of these frames came from GW. I paid $1.00 for the frame on the left & $1.99 for the one on the right.

These plates came from a different thrift store here in town. I got the whole set for $2.00. The plates on the left are salad plate size. I got 5 plates in this pattern & size. The plates on the right are a different pattern & are butter plate size. I got 2 plates in this pattern & size.

Here is a close up of the smaller butter plates that I got 2 of. I collect china with pink roses, so these plates will work great with them.
This a closeup of the larger salad plate that I got 5 of. There is no maker on the back. Just says Made in China. These are not pink roses, but the flowers are pink & besides, I love the flowers on these plates. I will be using these plates in a tea party tablescape next week for Tablescape Thursday. This week for Tablescape Thursday I will be doing a Mother's Day table. So be sure to check back Thursdays to check out my tablescapes.

Here is another photo holder that I picked up at GW for 99 cents. I will be adding reproduction vintage photos of the Eiffel Tower and/or Paris. I will probably end up selling this on ebay as well. But I might just have to keep it for myself since I love anything frenchy.

I found this silver child's cup at my local thrift store for 50 cents. I love the little ducky on it.
Here is the back of the cup. I have not tried polishing this up yet. But I like the tarnished look, so I may not. I have another silver child's cup that I picked up at another thrift store years ago. I think I have the start of a new collection. But I guess it isn't officially a collection until I have 3 or more. Don't tell my hubby. He thinks I collect way too many things already.

I picked up this cherub/angel for 25 cents at my local thrift store. Cherubs is another of my collections. Not sure where I will use it. Most of my cherubs come out at Christmas or Valentine's Day.
And the best thrift find of the week didn't cost me a dime. It was free!!! I got it from my niece Danica. She had done a Mad Hatter Tea Party for a friends little sisters birthday a few months back. She had borrowed a lot of my tea cups and china for the party. She then bought this tea pot at a thrift store to use for the party. Since she doesn't collect this type of stuff, she just gave this to me a week or so ago. I love it!!!
Normally I collect china with pink roses, but I am venturing out into other flowers. I just love the blue of these flowers. This tea pot also comes in handy as I broke the lid to the only tea pot that I had before this. So now I have a new "old" tea pot to replace the broken one. I will be featuring this tea pot in my tea party tablescape next week along with some of the plates above. And don't worry about the tea pot that no longer has a lid, I repurposed that into a vase.

Well thanks for joining me in Today's Thrifty Treasures. Now go see what everyone is showing off this week & let us know what you think of our thrifty treasures.

Kim, just look at all your cute finds. I loved that your hubby got you into thriftstores. Mine wouldn't be caught dead doing any of that, but he doesn't mind my obsession.

You got some great things. Thanks for playing!

Isn't it fun to go thrifting and junking? I only recently got into it and the hubs loves to go with me. Go figure- You have some NICE finds there, Kim. Our GW is very hit or miss. Glad you laughed at my post- that was the intention- humor. Moles are a problem, but if I don't laugh about it, I will go nuts. Did you read the second installment in the archives?

I love your French couple...it's not ugly! MEN!!! Hehe!!! I can't believe that you only paid $4 for that beautiful figurine!!! Love all of your photo stands! I've been looking for one to display my vintage postcards on...the only one I've found was $20 and I was too cheap to pay it! hehe!!! I think you should share one of yours...since you have two! Hehe!!! Okay...have to tell you...I have that exact frame (the one on the right)! Too funny! And I've had it for years and years!!! It's in my Tea Rose bedroom with the drawing of the rose in it...I repainted it white! Sooo cool!

Girl, I just love all of your goodies!!! But that fabulous teapot takes the prize!!! It's gorgeous...and I love the colors! That was so nice of your niece to give it to you!!!

Well Darlin'...have a fabulous week!
