Summer Vacation Flashback 2001-Days 7,8&9

The saga of our family vacation flashback from 2001 continues. We are still at Sue & Rich's house (Mike's niece and her husband).

Friday, July 13, 2001:

Objectives: Ohh, Friday the 13th! Today we are spending the day in the Dallas area, and will probably see whatever there is in Dallas. We will be staying at Sue's house again tonight.

Our Experience: We went out on the lake (Lake Tawakoni) in Rich's boat and went tubin'. Everyone had a fun time. The girls went into Greenville and looked for a bank and to do some shopping. That evening we went back out on the lake and went fishing for catfish, and brought back 3 of them and prepared them to be eaten. That night we went to some buffet, which was really good.

Objectives: We'll still be in Dallas and will do whatever there is to do. We will be at Sue's house again tonight.

Our Experience: Today we went to Six Flags Over Texas. Didn't take many pictures today, which explains why there is only one. We were having too much fun to take photos. When we first got to Six Flags, we waited in line for over an hour to go on some 20 second water ride. It was nice, and we all got soaked, especially those who would stand on the bridge that's above the water ride. But because it was so humid, you never dried off so it made you more hot & uncomfortable. It turned out to be a dumb move. After that, Kim, Brandon, Jesse, and Rick went on the Freefall ride. We all split into separate groups and did our own things during the day.

Sunday, July 15, 2001:

Objectives: Leave Sue's house early in the morning and head north into Oklahoma. We will be staying at Val and Judy's place in Vian, a small town in east-central Oklahoma.

Our Experience: Our experience turned out to be quite different than our objective. We didn't leave early to go to Oklahoma. We didn't leave for Oklahoma at all. Instead Mike, Kim, Brandon, Jesse went into Dallas to go to the Sixth Floor Museum. It's a museum about the John F Kennedy Assassination which happened in Dallas. The museum is on the 6th floor of the book depository where Oswald supposedly shot Kennedy from. It was really interesting. We then walked over to the grassy knoll & stood at the spot in the road where Kennedy was when he was shot. The kids really learned a lot about what happened in history. We didn't get back till late so we didn't leave for Oklahoma. Our plans are to leave early in the morning.
