Tablescape Thursday Valentine's Day Take 2

It's Thursday again and you know what that means, Tablescape Thursday. Be sure to surf on over to Susan's blog at Between Naps on the Porch to find the list of other participants & their tablescapes. It is great fun to see what everyone else has created. Oh, and be sure to leave comments. Every blogger loves comments.

I find this is one of the funnest weekly blog parties to participate in. If only I wasn't such a procrastinator. My entry this week is again a last minute arrangement. I think about it all week, but I never seem to find the time to execute my thoughts until the morning right before leaving for work. I call this weeks tablescape "True Love"

I have decided to create another Valentine's tablescape. This week I decided to make it more casual since my kids (well they are actually adults) will be included at dinner. We will be staying home to eat this year. We will have steak, shrimp, baked potatoes, corn, salad & rolls. For dessert we will have Valentine Funfetti cupcakes and maybe strawberry shortcake. I'm not big on gourmet food, just give me meat and potatoes and I'm a happy girl. This is my all time favorite meal. I'm already getting hungry thinking about it.

So this week I used my everyday dishes. I think they are by Gibson and I purchased them at Big Lots. I got service for 6 which included dinner plates, salad plates, bowls, cup & saucers, napkin rings, salt & pepper shakers, platter and a serving bowl. The whole set cost me $25.00. Such a deal!!! But I decided to just use my dinner plates & a couple of the salad plates for this tablescape. The glasses are my everyday glasses & came from Walmart. The silverware came from Marshall's on clearance a week or so ago. I can't remember who makes them (I'm at work as I'm posting this & forgot to write it down. Sorry). The placemats & napkins came from Marshall's as well.
Since I only had 2 heart shaped plates, I used my regular salad plates for 2 of the place settings. I placed a heart shaped paper doily & topped it off with a Little Debbie's Valentine snack cake.
Here is a photo of the one of the two place settings that had the heart shaped plates. My hubby & I get the place settings with the heart plates. I bought these plates at my local grocery store Winco Food for $2.50 each.
For my centerpiece I used an iron candelabra that I have. I placed my True Love sign in front of it. The sign came from the 99 Cent Only store. The 2 glass heart shaped candles came from the dollar bin at Target.

Here's another view of my tablescape. I love simple and casual. But I also love fancy and elegant like last weeks post. Can't decide which I like better. I guess it depends upon my mood.
Don't you just love Valentine's Day? Even if you have to share it with your kids.
I do have a confession to make, but only because my sister ratted me out last week. I usually don't set the table before eating. In fact, we rarely even eat at the table & I have not one, but two tables. The only time I set the table and we eat at the table is if we are entertaining. At Thanksgiving I had set the table with my Thanksgiving turkey plates, but my kids went to the cupboard & got out our regular plates to use. They were not used to the plates already being on the table. But I'm hoping to change that with participating in Tablescape Thursday. Now maybe we will at least eat at the table once a week.

Thanks for looking & be sure to leave me a comment. What are you going to be doing for Valentine's Day dinner this year?

What a sweet, family table! YOur menu sounds wonderful. I do enjoy gourmet food but there isn't anything more satisfying than surf & turf w/ taters. ;o)

Love that you want to do more family dinners at the table! If you are going to set the table anyway, why not use it?

Your "True Love" tablescape is truly lovely. I do notice that your doilies are the pretty side of the doily family--the heart shaped doilies. If I had to have an invasion, it should have been these! laurie
